Martin Lawrence Doesn’t Think BAD BOYS III Is Gonna Happen
It feels like Bad Boys III (a/k/a Bad Boys for Life) has been in the works for approximately half my lifetime. It’s a movie I’ve gone on record saying that we probably don’t ever need to see (despite my unabashed adoration of Michael Bay’s madcap sequel). Though Joe Carnahan was an interesting choice as Bay’s replacement, the fact that he left the project back in March was the first sign the movie was in trouble. Then Sony pulled the picture from their release slate (it was set for November 2018) a few weeks back, making it seem like they were dropping the film completely (I could’ve said “like it’s hot”, but we all would’ve frowned upon that).
Now Martin Lawrence is here to ostensibly put the final nail in the Bad Boys III coffin. While speaking with EW, Lawrence said:
“I don’t think we’re going to get one, not the way everything’s turning out. Will is off doing another movie, and I don’t think it’s going to happen.”
Speaking of things no one wants, the conflicting project Lawrence references is, of course, the upcoming Guy Ritchie mangling (I’m sorry “live-action adaptation”) of Disney’s Aladdin. Even though I don’t particularly desire a third go ‘round with the Miami marauders, the fact that it's being taken away by that inevitable trash fire is a particularly tough pill to swallow.
Anyway, all signs point to Bad Boys for Life being dead AF. Are you guys OK with this news? Or are you gonna miss not seeing those Masters of Bayhem take one last ride?
