Trailer For KILLING GUNTHER Makes It Look Like Arnold Schwarzenegger’s MACGRUBER

Well, if we’re being honest, the more apt description is probably “Waiting for Guffman meets Eraser”. But whatever Killing Gunther turns out to be – part mockumentary, part balls out action movie – we’re certainly there 100%. Check out the trailer:

While the spot proudly reps Taran Killam (Saturday Night Live, Drunk History) as its mastermind, it’s difficult to say Funny Arnold™ isn’t the main draw here. Watching him taunt his adversaries while smoking a cigar and sporting…whatever that haircut is cannot be denied by this longtime Arnie fanboy. The fact that the movie surrounds the Austrian man of action with hilarious folks like Bobby Moynihan, Alison Tollman, and Cobie Smulders only sweetens the deal.

The logline – a group of eccentric assassins are fed up with Gunther, the world's greatest hit-man, and decide to kill him but their plan turns into a series of bungled encounters with the superhuman – leaves plenty of room for character building in a “Christopher Guest remakes Commando” sort of way, and we’re all in here at BMD when its released theatrically later this year.
