Jon Bernthal Will Walk On The Moon In Damien Chazelle’s FIRST MAN

As if you needed another reason to watch Chazelle's next movie.

According to The Hollywood Reporter...

"Jon Bernthal has joined the growing cast of Universal's First Man, the Neil Armstrong biopic from Oscar-winning director Damien Chazelle, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

Bernthal...will play a NASA astronaut and test pilot that walks on the moon."

That's right: Jon Bernthal, noted MVP of virtually everything he appears in - be it an otherwise tedious TV series (The Walking Dead, Daredevil), an all-timer Martin Scorsese film (The Wolf Of Wall Street) or in the role of a dancin' cowboy with lust and murder in his heart (Denis Villeneuve's Sicario) - is joining the cast of First Man, the next film from La La Land's Damien Chazelle. Universal's describing the film as "a visceral first-person account of NASA’s mission to land a man on the moon, focusing on the years 1961-1969 and Armstrong, the astronaut who became that first man."

So, hell yeah to all of that.

With Ryan Gosling, Kyle Chandler, Corey Stoll and Jason Clarke already onboard, the First Man cast was already shaping up to be a powerhouse, but the addition of Bernthal really sends it over the top. This dude is one of our favorite onscreen presences, and we're thrilled to see him land yet another high-profile gig (sooner or later someone's gonna wise up and cast him as the lead in an excellent blockbuster, and that'll be the end of Bernthal's time in supporting roles - bank on it).

Bernthal just wrapped Steve McQueen's Widows, another film we're beyond hyped about, and will soon be seen in Netflix's The Punisher. First Man lands in theaters October 12th of next year and will start being hailed as a 2019 Oscar contender probably next week.
