Daisy Ridley Says She’s Done With STAR WARS After EPISODE IX

But she's open to revisiting in three decades or so.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Star Wars: The Last Jedi star Daisy Ridley makes it abundantly clear that she'll be hanging up her Star Wars spurs after completing work on Episode IX.

Asked if she's interested in playing Rey beyond that JJ Abrams film, Ridley says:

"No. For me, I didn't really know what I was signing on to. I hadn't read the script, but from what I could tell, it was really nice people involved, so I was just like, 'Awesome.' Now I think I am even luckier than I knew then, to be part of something that feels so like coming home now."

When the interviewer presses her on the point ("Doesn't that sort of sound like a yes?"), Ridley responds:

"No. No, no, no. I am really, really excited to do the third thing and round it out, because ultimately, what I was signing on to was three films. So in my head, it's three films. I think it will feel like the right time to round it out."

But wait - Ridley's not ruling out the possibility forever! Asked if she'd be interested in coming back to the franchise thirty years down the road - much like the original stars did for this new trilogy of Star Wars films - she says:

"Who knows? I honestly feel like the world may end in the next 30 years, so, if in 30 years we are not living underground in a series of interconnected cells ... then sure. Maybe. But again, it's like, who knows. Because the thing I thought was so amazing, was people really wanted it. And it was done by people who really love it."

There you have it, Star Wars fans: barring the end of the world itself, Daisy Ridley's open to the idea of returning to that galaxy far, far away about three decades from now.

Stay tuned for more on Star Wars: The Last Jedi as we get ever closer to its December 15th arrival in theaters.
