Here’s Our First Look At Jon Hamm In GOOD OMENS

Meet the Archangel Gabriel.

Amazon Studios' adaptation of Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman's Good Omens is currently in production over in the UK, and today they've given us one helluva first look at Jon Hamm's Archangel Gabriel. As per usual, Hamm looks badass.

See for yourselves.

Oh, and look at this: they've also sent along a small collection of pull quotes. Let's see what we've got, starting with Hamm:

"I read Good Omens almost twenty years ago. I thought it was one of the funniest, coolest books I'd ever read. It was also, obviously, unfilmable. Two months ago Neil sent me the scripts, and I knew I had to be in it.”

I'm like 99% sure that's an old quote, but who knows - maybe it'll be new to some of you. Here's what Gaiman has to say about Hamm's character:

“Gabriel is everything that Aziraphale isn't: he's tall, good-looking, charismatic and impeccably dressed. We were fortunate that Jon Hamm was available, given that he is already all of these things without even having to act. We were even more fortunate that he's a fan of the books and a remarkable actor.”

OK, I'm pretty sure that's an old quote, too. Here's what I believe is a new one, from costume designer Claire Anderson:

“Gabriel is the leader of the angels, and the most stylish and impeccably dressed of all of them, so we chose an immaculately tailored suit that Jon Hamm wears to perfection, in light colours, along with lilac accessories to bring out Gabriel's unnerving violet eyes.”

She's right about those eyes being unnerving. She's also correct about the character being impeccably dressed: were it not for Hamm's eyes, you might mistake this shot for a Vanity Fair fashion spread. Classic Hamm.

Anyway, I should probably get around to reading Good Omens before the series gets here in 2019. Who's with me?
