Seth Rogen To Play Walter Cronkite For David Gordon Green’s NEWSFLASH

*Checks Headline* Yup, that's what it says, alright.

Trying to pin David Gordon Green down as an artist is borderline impossible. The same man who made George Washington also helmed Your Highness and will be bringing us a new sequel to Halloween next year (co-written by Danny McBride, no less). To call his filmography 'eclectic' is a bit of an understatement.

Green isn't slowing the diversification of his work any time soon, either, as he'll be tackling the Blacklist script Newsflash, and is bringing Seth Rogen along to play legendary news anchor Walter Cronkite.

Wait, what?

Written by Ben Jacoby (Borderland), Newsflash is set in the CBS newsroom during the assassination of John F. Kennedy. Jacoby's script details the organization's reaction to the tragic news, and how Cronkite decides to deliver it to a grieving America.

Mark Ruffalo is being sought to play Cronkite’s producer Don Hewitt, with Bryan Cranston reportedly being offered the 'villain' role of  manager, Jim Aubrey. Green's one hell of a director, and the cast being put together is quite amazing. Rogen already proved he had dramatic chops in Danny Boyle's Steve Jobs (as Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak), so hopefully he can tap back into that biopic magic again for Green.

Even crazier is the fact that Green hopes to have the movie out in 2018, so - if all goes according to plan - we'll have both Halloween and Newsflash to look forward to during the next calendar year.
