Finn Wolfhard Continues To Be Horror’s It Boy In THE TURNING

The STRANGER THINGS star just can't stop getting spooky.

After becoming an overnight star in Stranger Things and then stealing IT away from the rest of the Losers' Club as Trash Mouth Richie Tozier, Finn Wolfhard is looking to keep his winning streak alive as the genre's hottest kid in Amblin's haunted house picture, The Turning.

That's right, the boy who got famous fronting an Amblin knock-off is actually going to get to appear in a legit Amblin production. The Turning - which was previously known as Haunted, and was supposed to be directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo before Steven Spielberg pulled the plug on the project himself - revolves around a young woman (Mackenzie Davis) who becomes the nanny of two orphans who live in a spooked country mansion. Surprisingly, Wolfhard will play one of the orphans.

The Turning, based on the Henry James novella "The Turn Of The Screw", was originally written by Chad and Carey Hayes (The Conjuring) before undergoing a page one rewrite by Scott Z. Burns (Side Effects). Fresnadillo (28 Weeks Later) is also out as director, replaced by TV workperson Floria Sigismondi (DaredevilAmerican Gods). Not the best sign, if you ask me (but nobody did).

Wolfhard's on a tear right now, and its fun to watch him work his way toward becoming something of a modern horror icon. Hopefully, The Turning turns out pretty solid under Spielberg's supervision, and the kid actually gets his own Poltergeist
