Idris Elba Has No Idea What’s Going On With That DARK TOWER TV Series
In a new interview with ScreenCrush, actor/kickboxer/all-around badass Idris Elba says he has no idea what's going on with that Dark Tower TV series Sony keeps threatening to make.
Here's the exchange:
"Stephen King recently said the The Dark Tower TV series would be a reboot. I’m curious if you know whether your Gunslinger will be involved in the series and how it will fit in with the movie?
You know what? I didn’t know Steven said that. I don’t know, actually, where it lies. I must figure this out, I don’t know where it lies. I’m unfortunately the last to know at this point."
Yes, much like everyone else, Idris Elba isn't sure what's going on with this long-gestating series. Back in August, we learned that former Walking Dead showrunner Glen Mazzara was hopping aboard the project in an effort to make it a reality, and shortly thereafter (as noted by Screencrush) Stephen King himself mentioned the Dark Tower series would be a "complete reboot". There have been no further updates and the Dark Tower franchise is currently presumed dead.
What're the odds of this thing actually happening? I'm going to take a wild, shot-in-the-dark guess and say "extremely unlikely bordering on definitely not", but who knows? If nothing else, 2017 has proven that literally anything is possible (the crazier the better, in fact), so who knows what 2018 may have in store for us?
Stay tuned for more on the Dark Tower series that's almost guaranteed never to happen as further updates become available.
