Would You Buy Another ROBOCOP For A Dollar?

Here we go again.

In a new interview with Zeitgeist Magazine, RoboCop co-creator Ed Neumeier casually mentions that he and MGM have been working on another RoboCop movie. Having made his confession, Neumeier adds the following when pressed for details:

“We’re not supposed to say too much. There’s been a bunch of other RoboCop movies and there was recently a remake and I would say this would be kind of going back to the old RoboCop we all love and starting there and going forward. So it’s a continuation really of the first movie. In my mind. So it’s a little bit more of the old school thing.”

We're not sure what to make of this quote. Is Neumeier talking about a period piece? A sidequel designed to wipe out the other sequels, a la Neill Blomkamp's doomed Alien 2.5? A ground up reboot which will quietly ignore the recent remake? Also: does the approach even matter? Do we even want another RoboCop? Jesus, do you remember, like, anything about the remake? That came out, when, 2014? Who played RoboCop in that one, anyway, Jai Courtney? Garret Hedlund?

Sorry. Went down a rabbit hole there. Obviously, our feelings about another RoboCop are complicated. We'll stand by for further information (hey, maybe we'll get lucky and they'll do something genuinely interesting with it!), but for now, join us in working through our emotions about another RoboCop movie in the comments section below.
