David Harbour Vows: HELLBOY Will Not Ruin My Dad Bod
Maybe you're worried about Neil Marshall's Hellboy. Maybe you're worried it'll be too gloomy. Maybe you're worried it won't live up to the standard established during Guillermo del Toro's run on the franchise. Or maybe you were worried that getting in shape for the lead role would rob the film's star, David Harbour, of his glorious "dad bod".
If that last one's been troubling you, we have good news: David Harbour (in a new interview with The Hollywood Reporter) says you have nothing to worry about:
"Look, here's the thing, dad bod is here to stay. I did a lot of strength and power training because I felt like the amount of stunts I was doing is crazy, so I wanted to be powerful. But we were fitting the prosthetics while I was shooting Stranger Things, and I wasn't allowed to lose that much weight. Don't worry! The dad bod is back in season three, kids. I'll take care of you!"
Harbour - who, you might have noticed, seems preternaturally gifted at being awesome on the internet - also says we shouldn't spend a lot of time worrying about the changing of the Hellboy guard. From where he's standing, there should be room in our hearts for both iterations of the character:
"I can like Michael Keaton's Batman and I can like Christian Bale's Batman. I can like Jack Nicolson's Joker and I can like Heath Ledger's Joker. There's other Jokers I don't have to like."
This is a good point, and Harbour's decision to take an unnecessary swing at Jared Leto while making it makes us love him all the more. We will, of course, miss Ron Perlman and Guillermo del Toro's presence when the new Hellboy hits theaters, but for now we're feeling pretty good about rooting for Harbour.
Where you folks at on the new Hellboy? Still outraged it's happening? Excited to see what Marshall does with it? Do you not care about Hellboy, period, and are just here for the sweet dad bod talk? Whatever the case may be, we'd like to hear from you in the comments below.
