Arnold Schwarzenegger Will Play The President In KUNG FURY

What we would not give to see Trump's reaction to this news.

Last week, we learned that David Sandberg's beloved 2015 short, Kung Fury, was being refashioned into a feature film, and that somehow Michael Fassbender had been roped into starring in the film (also onboard, but far less surprisingly: David Hasselhoff). This was a baffling, unexpected development, but one the BMD staff is mostly onboard with: we all enjoyed the short, we all enjoy Fassbender and we enjoy seeing indie filmmakers being giving the opportunity to expand their horizons. Win, win, win.

Well, we ain't done yet. Says THR:

"In what sounds like a match made in '80s heaven, Arnold Schwarzenegger has joined the cast of Kung Fury, the feature-length follow-up to the cult 2015 short.

THR understands that the TerminatorPredator and Total Recall icon (and former California governor) will play the American president in David Sandberg’s action-comedy, set to shoot in Europe and the U.S. this summer."

Yes, Arnold Schwarzenegger is joining Kung Fury, where he'll play the President of The United States. As you probably know, in the past year Schwarzenegger found himself beefing with our "actual" "President", Donald Trump, so we have to assume the actor's taking a bit of pleasure in this particular role.

Here's the plot synopsis, also via THR:

"The action is set in 1985 Miami, which is kept safe under the watchful eye of Kung Fury and his Thundercops, the ultimate police force assembled from across history to defeat the villainous Kung Fuhrer, Adolf Hitler. After the tragic death of a Thundercop sees the group disband, a mysterious villain emerges from the shadows to aid in the Fuhrer's quest to attain the ultimate weapon. Kung Fury must travel through space and time itself to save his friends, defend the prestigious Miami Kung Fu Academy and defeat evil once and for all."

Yeah, all of this sounds well within our wheelhouse. We are there for it, and are excited to learn more as Kung Fury heads into production this summer. Stay tuned for further updates as they roll in, and consider spending the interim leaving your favorite Schwarzenegger gifs in the comments below.
