Gaspar Noé To Also Make His SUSPIRIA Via The Drugged Out Dance Movie PSYCHE

In which the Argentinian provocateur drops acid with a performance troupe.

Gaspar Noé’s movies make you wildly uncomfortable. I Stand Alone profiles one of the scariest mental breakdowns this side of Travis Bickle. Irreversible is a haunting, poignant rape/revenge inversion. Enter the Void took you to the trippy afterlife. Love tried to transform porno into pure cinema.

Now, Noé’s coming back with a vengeance with Psyché - his next psychedelic project that's receiving funding via the Tax Shelter of Belgium. Reportedly costing $3.1 million, Noé’s next slice of insanity apparently revolves around:

In the mid 90’s, about twenty urban dancers joined together for a 3-day rehearsal in a closed down boarding school located at the heart of a forest, to share one last dance. They then make one last party around a large sangria bowl.

Quickly, the atmosphere becomes charged and a strange madness will seize them the whole night. If it seems obvious to them that they have been drugged, they neither know by who nor why. And it’s soon impossible for them to resist to their neurosises and psychoses, numbed by the hypnotic and the increasing electric rythm of the music… While some feel in paradise, most of them plunge into hell.

So, is this basically Noé’s Suspiria? If so, we're totally down for that sort of jam. Strangely enough, the shoot is commencing very soon, with a two-week filming window and a planned first cut arriving by June. Could we see the wacko art house mainstay's Psyché at Fantastic Fest? If Satan wills it, we will be seated in an auditorium with whatever madness he comes up with.

Here's to another reason to survive to the end of 2018.
