THE ENDLESS Trailer: Start Getting Hyped About This Movie Right Now

In which the directors of SPRING knock another one out of the park.

Justin Benson and Aaron Moorhead's The Endless screened at Fantastic Fest last year, and it was one of the best things I saw that week - creepy, darkly funny, heartfelt, Lovecraftian, mind-bending ... I could rattle off descriptors for this thing all day, but it'd probably be easier if I just told you to make The Endless a major priority. You, the gentle BMD readers of the world, are absolutely the target audience for this brand of weirdness, especially those of you who enjoyed Benson and Moorhead's previous efforts, Spring and Resolution.

Here's an official plot synopsis:

"Two brothers return to the cult they fled from years ago to discover that the group's beliefs may be more sane than they once thought."

OK, so, the plot synopsis is playing its cards close to the vest. Fair enough. Let's see what we can see in this just-released trailer...

That looks great, right? It is. The Endless bobs and weaves in unexpected ways, using a not-unfamiliar jumping-off point ("nefarious cult operating out in the middle of nowhere") to tell a wholly original tale that lands like a highly personal, genre-blending sucker punch. It's also a hard movie to talk about with people who haven't seen it: all that bobbing and weaving means there are unexpected twists and turns to discover, and you're really better off not knowing about them beforehand.

Look: The Endless arrives in NY on April 6th, in LA on April 13th, with additional markets to follow. It currenly has a 100% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes. Listen to your friendly neighborhood BMD News Editor for once in your miserable lives and put this movie on your calendar right now. You will thank me later.
