New FANTASTIC BEASTS 2 Trailer Goes Mercifully Light On The Johnny Depp Footage

Lots of Jude Law as Dumbledore, though.

The new trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald just landed, and it's filled with all the imagery we expected said trailer to contain: dusty libraries, gigantic set pieces featuring hundreds of extras, swirling clouds of magic, a Dumbledore, one of those old leathery trunks with brass hinges on the side, CGI beasties both adorable and fearsome, and - in what's probably a wise move - as few shots of Johnny Depp as possible.

Here, give it a whirl.

To be fair, this entry does look a bit more interesting than the first, and Law certainly seems to be enjoying himself in the role of Dumbledore. This footage also looks more colorful than I recall Fantastic Beasts looking, which is also a step in the right direction.

Still not entirely sold on the franchise as whole, perhaps, but then: I'm not really the target audience (to be fair, I'm told by several generally-reasonable friends that the first Fantastic Beasts was "eh, okay" and "not terrible", so maybe I should rethink my disinterest). Are you the target audience for these films? Hit the comments below and tell us why you're hooked, we're genuinely curious.

Before you do, though, here's an offical plot synopsis:

"The powerful dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald has been captured by MACUSA (Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander. But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings. In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore enlists his former student Newt Scamander, who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world."

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes Of Grindelwald will be along on November 16th. You into it or what?
