Jordan Peele And Amazon Team Up To Tell The Story Of Lorena Bobbitt

Quite a sentence, that.

After the amazing success of the amazing Get Out, the amazing Jordan Peele is producing up a storm. Amongst the many pans he has on the fire right now, EW just announced one that should definitely turn some heads.

The Lorena Bobbitt story, under the simple title Lorena, is headed to Amazon as a four-part docu-drama series, which means Lorena herself will finally get the chance to set the record straight regarding a crime that shocked the nation before becoming joke fodder (even making it into a Weird Al song). The series will take a serious look at the case from a #metoo perspective that should be fascinating all these years later.

Peele had this to say about the project:

“When we hear the name ‘Bobbitt’ we think of one of the most sensational incidents to ever be catapulted into a full blown media spectacle,” Peele says. “With this project, Lorena has a platform to tell her truth as well as engage in a critical conversation about gender dynamics, abuse, and her demand for justice. This is Lorena’s story and we’re honored to help her tell it.”

Youngsters may not even know who Bobbitt is. Between this, I, Tonya and the OJ show, they’re definitely getting a crash course in what news was like in the ‘90s.
