Dave Bautista’s Making An Action Comedy With Kumail Nanjiani And Iko Uwais

Get ready for STUBER, which sounds kinda like a funny COLLATERAL.

Very exciting news via Deadline: Dave Bautista (Guardians Of The Galaxy, Blade Runner 2049), Kumail Nanjiani (The Big Sick, Hell Baby) and Iko Uwais (The Raid 2) are all teaming up for a new action comedy by the name of Stuber. How's that for an refreshingly unlikely cast?

The film's called Stuber, and is described thusly:

"Fox acquired the Tripper Clancy-penned spec in April 2016 about a determined detective (Bautista) who commandeers an unsuspecting Uber and its driver named Stu (Nanjiani) over one night of hijinks and mayhem. Details of Uwais’ character are under wraps."

A mismatched-partners action-comedy, in other words, with action heavyweights Bautista and Uwais presumably anchoring the stuntwork (note: we are totally open to seeing Kumail Nanjiani in full action-hero mode; we're just assuming, perhaps incorrectly, that he'll be doing the heavy lifting in the comedy department). We are 1000% in for this, and can't wait to hear more.

Unfortunately, there's not much else to go on at the moment - we know Goon's Michael Dowse is directing and that's about it - but rest assured we'll be keeping a close eye on this one going forward, and are very curious to learn more. Stuber sounds very much within the BMD wheelhouse.
