Chris Evans Will Put Down His Shield To Star In Neill Blomkamp’s GREENLAND

Though he'll still be staring down the end of the world.

We all know that Chris Evans is pretty much done with The Avengers movies. He's said so himself - stating that 2019 is going to be the last year where we'll see him in Captain America's trademark red, white and blue spandex (though he arguably gave those colors up a while ago). So, what do we have to look forward to in Evans' initial post-MCU days?

Well, Neill Blomkamp's Greenland, for starters. A dispatch was sent out from Cannes over the weekend, alerting us all to the fact that Evans has signed on to Blomkamp's next writing/directing effort, which revolves around:

"...one family’s fight for survival in the face of a cataclysmic natural disaster."

Not much more is known about the film outside of that brief description. Thunder Road Pictures' Basil Iwanyk (SicarioJohn Wick) is helping produce the movie, which STX Entertainment will be distributing via a wide release. Shooting is reportedly set for the end of this year, with a 2019 release date possibly being eyed.

What do you folks think? Are you fans of Blomkamp's District 9 or Elysium? Was Chappie your sort of techy camp? Or do you think he should go back to sketching imaginary Alien movies? Sound off in the comments below, while you dream about how pretty Evans' beard will be while its bombarded by the end of the world.
