The First WHITE BOY RICK Trailer Presents Matthew McConaughey: World’s Greatest Dad

This one looks like a wild ride.

True crime stories are all the rage these days, and hoo boy, does Yann Demange's White Boy Rick have a great true crime story to tell.

Based on the wild true story of Richard Wershe Jr., White Boy Rick tells the story of a troubled teen (newcomer Richie Merritt) and his nodoodnik father (Matthew McConaughey, fully recovered from last summer's The Dark Tower) who get sucked into the drug trade - in more ways that one! - in 1980's Detroit.

Oh, yes. This one looks right up our alley.

And check out this cast: in addition to Merritt and McConaughey, you've got Bel Powley, Bruce Dern, Piper Laurie, and the great Jennifer Jason Leigh. Combined with that stranger-than-fiction true story (note: the real White Boy Rick was working as an informant for the Feds at the age of 14), we're thinking this one's gonna make for quite a ride.

Oh, and here's the film's first poster:
