Unsurprisingly, David Lowery’s THE OLD MAN & THE GUN Looks Excellent

The Day of 1,000 Trailers continues with the latest from the director of A GHOST STORY.

As you know, we're big fans of David Lowery here at Birth.Movies.Death. From Ain't Them Bodies Saints to Pete's Dragon to last year's emotionally devastating A Ghost Story, this is a director who has yet to make a single misstep, and his latest, The Old Man & The Gun, looks like it'll maintain that perfect track record.

That is, admittedly, something of a leap based on a single trailer, but come on:

Just look at this trailer.

According to everyone involved, The Old Man & The Gun represents Robert Redford's final role before permanent retirement, and this looks it'll be a helluva note to go out on. This is the true story of Forrest Tucker, a career criminal who escaped from prison over a dozen times (including once from San Quentin, via kayak) and went on committing robberies - and going through marriages! - well into his 70s, before ultimately being caught in 2000.

It's a wild, fascinating life story, in other words, and appears to have been brought to life with the same heart and attention to detail that's marked Lowery's other efforts (gigantic added bonus: this one also features Tom Waits). We are 100% in on this one, and can't wait to see more.

The Old Man & The Gun arrives on September 28th. We're all gonna try to be patient.
