Full Trailer For Amazon’s JACK RYAN Series Gives Us A Green CIA Man

Jim Halpert, International Man of Mystery.

The list of folks who have played Jack Ryan is sort of crazy:

  • Alec Baldwin (The Hunt for Red October)
  • Harrison Ford (Patriot GamesClear and Present Danger)
  • Ben Affleck (The Sum of All Fears)
  • Chris Pine (Jack Ryan

Now, John Krasinski is going to be tossing his newly revamped action hero self into the mix in Amazon's upcoming Jack Ryan series (not to be confused with the failed reboot of the character with Kenneth Branagh's Jack Ryan). The studio just released a full trailer for its upcoming show - which feels like it has been teased forever, to be honest - and the spot's totally selling the origin story of everybody's favorite All American CIA boy scout.

Take a look:

I'm gonna be real: there's no way I wasn't going to watch this show. I like all of the movies - which range from classics (Red October/Patriot Games) to silly fluff (Jack Ryan) - and was basically raised on a steady diet of Tom Clancy novels, thanks to my dad's addiction to the author's white boy techno thrillers.

Will it be any good? There's definitely the chance, given Jack Ryan is created by Carlton Cuse (LostThe Strain) and Graham Roland (Fringe). Plus, the cast supporting Krasinski - who is vastly underrated as a believable action hero in Michael Bay's 13 Hours - includes Wendell Pierce (The Wire) and Abbie Cornish (Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri), plus it's produced by Bay's Platinum Dunes (with whom Krasinski has quite the successful working relationship after A Quiet Place).

We'll just have to see when Jack Ryan hits Amazon Prime Video August 31st.
