Keegan-Michael Key Joins Eddie Murphy in DOLEMITE IS MY NAME

Craig Brewer's film just keeps sounding better and better.

We're excited about a lot of film projects out there on the horizon, but there are very few the BMD team is as excited about as Craig Brewer's Dolemite Is My Name!, the Rudy Ray Moore biopic currently shooting in Los Angeles with Eddie Murphy in the lead.

The film, a Netflix jam, already has Wesley Snipes, Mike Epps, Craig Robinson, Tituss Burgess, Da'Vine Joy Randolph and T.I. starring alongside Murphy, but today it's added yet another amazing cast member to the mix: Keegan-Michael Key, known to most as one half of the immortal Key & Peele. The Hollywood Reporter (who broke the story here) says Key will be playing Jerry Jones, a playwright convinced by Rudy Ray Moore to write the Dolemite screenplay.

Oh, and if all of the above weren't enough to have your hype levels running dangerously high, we should also point out - not for the first time! - that the Dolemite Is My Name! screenplay was written by Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski, the dynamic screenwriting duo behind The People VS. Larry Flynt, Ed Wood and Man on The Moon. These guys know how to deliver an entertaining biopic.

Nothing further to report at this time, but we're keeping a close eye on Dolemite Is My Name!, and will keep you informed as further updates roll in. Please help us celebrate this news with your favorite Key & Peele gifs in the comments below.
