LA: Alamo Drafthouse And The Bloc’s SKYLINE SOUND + CINEMA Series Gears Up For Amazing Summer

After patiently waiting since the press release last June, there's finally some exciting news for those waiting for The Bloc to open in downtown Los Angeles. To prepare for their upcoming opening in 2019, the newest addition to the Alamo Drafthouse family is having a few shindigs with some very special guests throughout the months of July and August.

The Rolling Roadshow team will be bringing Tonya Harding herself for a special screening of I, Tonya on July 12th, and will keep the party going with The Princess Bride on July 26th. The series will close out with a bang on August 9th with Die Hard shown in the only way it was ever meant to be seen: from a roof of a tall building! You won't have to worry about food, either. Even though The Bloc's kitchen is still under construction, Alamo Drafthouse will be bringing in food from some of LA's favorites, and there will be several outdoor bars.

LOS ANGELES, CA. – July 3, 2018 – Downtown Los Angeles, get ready to meet an American icon: Olympic figure skater Tonya Harding. In advance of their upcoming 2019 opening at downtown urban center The Bloc, Alamo Drafthouse is proud to announce the next three epic screenings in the Skyline Sound + Cinema series.

On July 12th, Academy Award winner I, TONYA with special guest Tonya Harding live and in-person
On July 26th, an interactive Movie Party celebration of THE PRINCESS BRIDE
On August 9th, a movie that really needs to be seen on the roof of a Los Angeles high-rise... DIE HARD

“These next three Skyline Sound + Cinema screenings really represent what Alamo Drafthouse is all about -- sharing the movies we love in the biggest and most fun ways imaginable,” says Tim League, Alamo Drafthouse founder and CEO. “Having an icon like Tonya present is going to make this event something truly special.”

Skyline Sound + Cinema is produced by Alamo Drafthouse’s Rolling Roadshow team, known across the country for outdoor screenings at incredible settings, like CLOSE ENCOUNTERS OF THE THIRD KIND at Devils Tower, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND on a beach in Montauk, and their annual JAWS On The Water screenings. For pre-show entertainment, ALT 98.7’s host Tobi Lynn has curated a selection of the city’s best up-and-coming bands, including Ray Little (led by Queen Caveat frontwoman Lauren Little), Freedom Fry, and Alex Winston of Post Precious.

As Alamo Drafthouse’s kitchen is currently under construction, guests at Skyline Sound + Cinema can enjoy featured food from some of downtown LA’s favorite vendors. There will also be outdoor bars throughout the venue, with drinks available for purchase before and during the film screening.
