It’s Official: Miles Teller Will Play Baby Goose in The TOP GUN Sequel

Sure, that's fine.

Last week we learned that three actors were up for the role of Goose's son in Joseph Kosinski's Top Gun: Maverick: Miles Teller, Nicolas Hoult and Glen Powell. In response, the world was left shaken to its core with excitement, trembling with anticipation to learn which of these actors might end up playing the part.

Today, Variety announced that Miles Teller got the gig:

"Sources tell Variety that “Only the Brave” star Miles Teller has been tapped to play the son of Goose and Maverick’s new protege in Paramount and Skydance’s “Top Gun: Maverick,” the sequel to the 1986 Cruise classic."

So, that settles that.

How excited you'll be about all this will depend on how excited you are about Miles Teller in general, or the idea of a Top Gun sequel. The BMD crew seems, ahem, mostly united on the former, but remains split on the latter: some of us are unable to muster much more than a shrug about Top Gun: Maverick, while others insist they are legitimately excited about the film. You should, in other words, expect to experience a fair amount of whiplash as you read through our future reporting on this one.

Nothing further to report at this time, but there'll surely be plenty more to discuss between now and Top Gun: Maverick's arrival in theaters on July 12th of next year. Stay tuned.
