THE DARK KNIGHT Will Celebrate Its 10th Anniversary in IMAX*

* = Four theaters only

It's been ten years since Christopher Nolan's The Dark Knight landed in theaters and changed the superhero landscape forever, and to mark the occasion, Warner Bros. and IMAX are partnering to bring Nolan's Bat-Classic back to theaters in a super limited, one-week-only series of screenings.

And when we say "super limited", we mean it:

"Warner Bros. Pictures has set Christopher Nolan’s 2008 superhero sequel The Dark Knight for a re-release in four select Imax theaters to celebrate the film’s 10th anniversary, Variety has learned.

Venues in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco and Toronto will host the film for a limited one-week engagement beginning Friday, Aug. 24."

That's Variety not-so-gently breaking the news that The Dark Knight will return to IMAX theaters next month...but only four of them. Great news for anyone living in Los Angeles, New York, San Francisco or Toronto; if you live anywhere else you are cordially invited to F yourself.

Here's a list of the theaters where you'll be able to see it:

  • AMC Universal Citywalk IMAX, Universal City
  • AMC Lincoln Square IMAX, New York
  • AMC Metreon IMAX, San Francisco
  • Ontario Place Cinesphere IMAX, Toronto

Tickets go on sale this Friday, so if you're living near one of the above theaters and want to attend, be sure to get while the getting's good on Friday. We're not expecting these tickets to last long, especially given how insanely limited the screenings are (and, yes, given how insanely dedicated Dark Knight fans are).

Living in one of these cities? Think you'll attend? Not so much? Sound off in the comments below.
