SDCC 2018: The First AQUAMAN Trailer Makes Serious Waves
We saw a very rough cut of the first Aquaman trailer all the way back in April, during CinemaCon, and ever since we've been not-so-patiently waiting to see what the final version would look like...and we were not alone: leading into this year's SDCC, nothing else has generated as much buzz as the trailer drop for James Wan's underwater epic.
And now it's here.
Interesting! For starters, this definitely isn't the same version of the trailer we saw at CinemaCon. There's more humor here, more dialogue, and decidedly less epic VFX shots (they're probably still ironing all those out). We like what we see, but it is, admittedly, a different trailer.
Secondly: James Wan appears to have done the unthinkable, hasn't he? Dude made an Aquaman movie that looks pretty cool. This looks big and colorful and fun, and Momoa seems to be having an absolute blast in the titular role. If you'd told me even two years ago that I would one day be legitimately interested in seeing an Aquaman movie, I would have laughed in your face and probably given you a wedgie for good measure. And yet, here we are. What a time to be alive.
Once again, here's the official plot synopsis:
"Aquaman finds himself caught between a surface world that ravages the sea and the underwater Atlanteans who are ready to revolt."
Aaaand here's another look at the film's first poster, released earlier this week:
Alright. So. Now that we've all seen the footage, what do you think? You feeling this as much as we are, or are we crazy? Sound off in the comments below.
Aquaman opens on December 21st.
