Alex Garland & Nick Offerman Made a Sci-Fi TV Series Together

It's like FX is producing shows just for us!

A while back, we heard that Annihilation director Alex Garland's next project was an FX limited series by the name of Devs. Beyond the fact that it'd be science fiction, we didn't have much more to go on ... but today we've finally got an update, and friends: the news is very exciting, indeed.

According to Vulture, Devs will star Sonoya Mizuno (the forthcoming Crazy Rich Asians) as Lily Chan, a software engineer who “investigates the secretive development division of her employer, a cutting-edge tech company based in San Francisco, who she believes are behind the murder of her boyfriend.” A little murder, a little corporate espionage, the promise of a science-fiction bent that isn't made readily apparent in that description. What could be better?

Well, I'll tell you: Devs will also star national treasure Nick Offerman as the CEO at Chan's company, "whose obsession is the covert work of the company’s development division." So, now it's a sci-fi murder mystery ... directed by Alex Garland ... starring Sonoya Mizuno ... and also Nick Offerman, possibly as the villain? That sound you just heard was the entire BMD staff's heads exploding. We might never get the stains out of the ceiling.

You can head on over to Vulture to read some further information about the show's cast and characters, but I'll be honest: I only barely scanned through those, because if Annihilation taught me anything, it's that going into a new Alex Garland project as blind as possible is absolutely the best way to go.

We're not sure when Devs' eight episodes will begin airing, but rest assured we're gonna be keeping a close eye on this one, and will bring you any and all future updates as they roll in. In the meantime, we suggest you get hyped (and catch up for Annihilation if you haven't already seen it, for God's sake; it's one of the year's best movies).
