HALLOWEEN Headlines Fantastic Fest’s Second Wave Of Programming

Opening Night is now the night he came home...again.

We're now less than a month away from Fantastic Fest 2018 and - following the announcement of the event's stellar First Wave - the programmers have decided to drop a bomb on our heads via their latest round of titles.

2018's installment of the Fest is going to open with what's arguably the most anticipated horror movie of the year: David Gordon Green's direct sequel to John Carpenter's classic Halloween. That's right, Green and Danny McBride's co-penned slasher will kick #FF2018 off in grim, gruesome style. Sweetening the deal is the fact that OG Final Girl Jamie Lee Curtis will be present for the screening, along with producers Jason Blum, Malek Akkad and Bill Block.

Also showing up to melt faces is the U.S. Premiere of FF alumni Jeremy Saulnier’s gripping new wilderness thriller Hold the Dark, starring Westworld’s Jeffrey Wright. A brutal, beautiful excursion that pits nature versus man’s heart of darkness, the film also boasts killer performances from Alexander Skarsgård and Riley Keough. Trust me when I say that screening is going to be an absolute scorcher.

In terms of unique Fest experiences, winner of this year’s Un Certain Regard at the Cannes Film Festival, Border, will be presented via a singular, open-air screening in an intimate outdoor venue, paired with exclusive cocktails and accompanied by a lavish multi-course meal crafted by Alamo Drafthouse Chef Brad Sorenson. That's something you absolutely won't want to miss, as Border is one of the most poignantly odd motion pictures you'd see in any year.

If rep titles are more your bag, the American Genre Film Archive presents the AGFA Drug Stories Collection, a special program of drug scare films curated by Lisa Petrucci of Something Weird Video. Fantastic Fest will also be hosting the North American Premiere of Vinegar Syndrome's restored shocker Sudden Fury ('75), a brilliantly twisted, nearly lost Canuxploitation nightmare.

But enough from me, here's the full list of what's included in this Second Wave...
