Here’s Our First Look At The Soska Sisters’ RABID Remake
One wonders if some of our younger readers are familiar with David Cronbenberg's Rabid (1977). That's the one where former adult film star Marilyn Chambers starred as Rose, a woman who gets into a grisly accident before growing a phallic-like appendage in her armpit which she then uses to drink the blood of unsuspecting victims. Those she feeds on ultimately become infected, and, well, things go downhill from there.
As that description implies, it's some wild shit.
Well, anyway, the Soska Sisters are currently in production on a Rabid remake, and today they've released the first official photo from the film via the good folks at Bloody Disgusting.
Let's see what we can see...
So, this is Laura Vandervoort, who stars in the role previously played by Chambers. As you can see, she appears to be troubled and deep in thought, perhaps about the weird-ass appendage that's recently grown on her body. You'd be weirded out, too.
If you're wondering, this new version of Rabid has basically the same setup as the original...
"Vandervoort stars as Rose, a demure seamstress who goes through a radical transformation after electing for plastic surgery following a disfiguring accident."
...and will also feature Ben Hollingsworth, Hanneke Talbot, Mackenzie Gray, the WWE's CM Punk (!!!) and New York Times best-selling author AJ Mendez. That's an eclectic cast, and given the Soskas' known interest for all things bloody, we're guessing many of them will meet a most gruesome end.
No release date's been established on Rabid as of yet, but Bloody Disgusting points out that there will be a theatrical release of some kind for this one.
