The TOP GUN Sequel Just Got Delayed By A Year

Nothing to see here, move along, please disperse.

Word on the street suggests that Top Gun: Maverick (the long-gestating, Joseph Kosinski-directed Top Gun sequel that's currently filming in California) has not been the smoothest shoot in the world. One hears this sort of thing somewhat frequently - often enough, in fact, that when that rumor started making the rounds, we didn't think too much of it. Clashing egos, complicated special effects, studio micromanagement: there's all kinds of reasons a production might be having a rough go of things, and most of the time everything turns out A-OK.

Anyway, on a completely unrelated note, Top Gun: Maverick has just been pushed from its original release date of July 12th, 2019 until June 26th, 2020. For those keeping score at home, that's almost a full year. According to Deadline, "the extended time will allow the production to work out all the complex, incredible flight sequences so that the pic can be great." Mhm.

Nothing further to report at this time, but we're obviously keeping our ear to the ground for further information. If we hear anything, we'll let you know. In the meantime, please use the comments space provided below to post your favorite Tom Cruise gifs.
