This New Musical Comedy Danny Boyle’s Making Sounds Bonkers
Danny Boyle's been in the news quite a bit as of late, what with all the back-and-forth surrounding Bond 25, but today we're pleased to bring you a Boyle Update that isn't centered around creative differences or shattered dreams.
The news comes to us from a new ABC interview with Ed Sheeran, who - as you may or may not already know - is slated to appear alongside Lili James and Himesh Patel in Boyle's next film, an as-yet-untitled musical comedy that, heretofore, we didn't know much about. Thankfully for us, Ed Sheeran cannot keep his mouth shut.
Says The Playlist:
"First, the film apparently stars Patel as a singer-songwriter that wakes up one day to realize that he’s the only person in the world to remember the Beatles. And as you might expect, it appears like he uses that knowledge to become a major star.
“And then I discover him and take him on tour. Then he gets much, much bigger than me through doing stuff. Yeah, it’s very clever,” Sheeran said.
A dude waking up in a world where no one else remembers the Beatles is a great hook, and said dude attempting to capitalize on that sudden, inexplicable ignorance is even better. Sounds like Sheeran will be playing, what, his manager? A concert promoter? Whatever this is, we're into it.
As of this writing, we know nothing else about the film. No release date, no title, no nothing. But Sheeran's got us hooked, and we'll be keeping our ear to the ground for further updates and will make you aware of them as soon as they arrive. Stay tuned, gang.
