In a recent appearance on The Jonathan Ross Show, noted beefcake, Guardians of The Galaxy MVP and all-around national treasure Dave Bautista has downgraded his interest in a third Guardians movie to a firm "Maybe".
Before we go on, here's what he said:
"There’s a bit of an issue. It’s a bitter-sweet conversation. Um, no it’s a bitter-bitter conversation because I’m not really happy with what they’ve done with James Gunn. They’re putting the movie off. It’s on hold indefinitely. To be honest with you I don’t know if I want to work for Disney.”
From the moment Disney parted ways with Gunn, Bautista's been the most outspoken member of the Guardians cast, holding nothing back and taking Disney to task on social media again and again. A few weeks ago, he was saying he wouldn't want to return for Guardians Vol. 3 if Disney opted not to use the screenplay James Gunn had written for the film, but now it appears he's unsure if he wants to continue, period. Given everything this cast and crew have been through together over the years, we can't say we blame him. I mean, how enthused would you be to show up for work on the set of someone else's trilogy-capping installment of this series?
Another noteworthy element here: Bautista confirming that Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 has been put on hold "indefinitely", which would seem to lend credence to the theory that Disney might just opt out of a Guardians of The Galaxy Vol. 3 entirely. With so much money at stake, we find that outcome hard to believe (seems like the far likelier outcome would be a Guardians 3 that simply doesn't feature Drax), but I suppose we'll see what happens.
