DC’s SWAMP THING Series Gains The Super Talents Of One Len Wiseman

You know, the guy who remade TOTAL RECALL? Yes, they remade TOTAL RECALL.

I might have had some curiosity about what DC’s upcoming Swamp Thing series would be like. The character is certainly interesting, with a nice opportunity for twisted darkness as well as environmental messaging. It could be cool.

But now I’m much less sure. According to Deadline, Len Wiseman will direct the show’s first episode and serve as executive producer. Wiseman’s not a name that gives me much confidence. His output so far (Live Free or Die Hard, the Total Recall remake, a couple of Underworld movies), reveals a director who creates bland cinema at best. I’m not sure he’s the kind of guy to deliver an interesting version of the Swamp Thing story.

I guess we’ll just have to wait and see. It’s going to be a while before this thing is ready to judge, but I’m not feeling very hopeful about it. If it keeps him away from that Die Hard prequel, it will have been worth it.
