It’s Official: VENOM Will Be Rated PG-13

Venom will be thicc, but not R-rated thicc.

A while back we learned that Sony was aiming for a PG-13 rating on Ruben Fleischer's Venom, a movie about a psychotic alien parasite that bites the heads off dangerous criminals after taking over the body of Eddie Brock (Tom Hardy), a man with an unfortunate speaking voice.

This was mildly surprising news, as Venom had long been positioned as an R-rated feature, but perhaps not entirely shocking: despite the success of the Deadpool franchise and last year's Logan, many studios still seem reluctant to risk losing ticket sales by restricting their superhero movies to a 17-and-older crowd. Plus, keeping Venom PG-13 would open the door to the character possibly appearing in future Spider-Man movies, and you know that's something Sony's interested in.

Well, anyway, it's now official: our friends over at Collider have confirmed that Venom will be rated PG-13. They've also confirmed the film will run 112 minutes in length, if that sort of thing makes a difference to you. Neither of these facts are likely to have any bearing on whether or not Venom is any good.

Will Venom be any good? We'll find out when the movie hits theaters on October 5th. Stay tuned for more on this one as further updates roll in.
