Here’s The Will Smith NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET Music Video Hollywood Didn’t Want You To See

Well, not ALL of Hollywood. Just New Line.

The folks over at The Playlist got their hands on an interesting little artifact today: the 1988 music video for DJ Jazzy Jeff and the Fresh Prince's "Nightmare On My Street". The song (which appeared on the duo's He's The DJ, I'm The Rapper) has been readily available for years, but an ugly legal kerfuffle prevented the video from being released until now.

And guess what? It looks exactly as you'd expect a 1988 music video featuring Will Smith rapping about Freddy Krueger to look, right down to the janky VHS quality. Give it a whirl and see what you think.

As you've surely noticed by now, Freddy Krueger himself does not actually appear in the clip above, which is something of an interesting twist. Perhaps DJ Jazzy Jeff, the Fresh Prince and director Scott Kalvert were hoping to avoid the very sort of legal brouhaha that prevented the video from being released in the first place? A clever gambit, to be sure, but apparently not clever enough.

Anyhoo, this content has zero nutritional value, but we got a kick out of it and thought y'all would enjoy gawking at it, as well. From the BMD family to yours, happy Halloween.
