Here Are Obama’s Top 15 Movies Of 2018
Today, in what has become an annual tradition, former president Barack Obama has taken to his Facebook page to announce his favorite books, movies and albums of the year. You can, and should, read the entire lineup over here, but what we're most interested in today are Obama's picks for the year's best films.
Here they are:
- Annihilation
- Black Panther
- BlacKkKlansman
- Blindspotting
- Burning
- The Death of Stalin
- Eighth Grade
- If Beale Street Could Talk
- Leave No Trace
- Minding the Gap
- The Rider
- Roma
- Shoplifters
- Support the Girls
- Won’t You Be My Neighbor
Obama provides no further commentary on this list, which only serves to make the whole thing more interesting. Take a minute to consider why Annihilation might be on this list, or Eighth Grade, or (ahem) The Death of Stalin. Absorb the fact that Obama is a Support The Girls fan, or that he likely sobbed through Won't You Be My Neighbor just like the rest of us did. This is a fascinating thing to play armchair psychologist on.
Anything you're particularly surprised to see on here? Anything you're shocked to see left off? Can you imagine the current president watching literally any of these movies from beginning to end? Interpret the tea leaves and let us know what you think in the comments below.
