THE BEACH BUM Gets A Wild New Red Band Trailer
Disclosure: Tim League, founder and CEO of Birth.Movies.Death.’s parent company Alamo Drafthouse, is a co-founder of NEON.
It's been almost seven years since Harmony Korine lit up theaters with Spring Breakers, but he's finally back with The Beach Bum – a movie that somehow looks even more wild (and more neon-soaked) than his previous effort. NEON has released a new red band trailer (it's mostly profanity, FYI) for Korine's highly-anticipated film starring Matthew McConaughey as Moondog, a high-as-a-damn-kite beach bum who's trying to write the "next great American novel." Obviously, it's not coming together so quickly:
The Beach Bum also features a totally bananas cast, including Jonah Hill, Martin Lawrence (and his coke-addled parrot), Isla Fisher, Zac Efron, Snoop Dogg, and Jimmy Friggin' Buffett. This movie looks like it was fueled entirely by pot smoke (not a burn) and 2 AM tacos, and I for one am completely into it. Here's the official synopsis:
THE BEACH BUM follows the outrageous misadventures of Moondog (Matthew McConaughey), a rebellious burnout who only knows how to live life by his own rules. Complete with an all-star cast including Snoop Dogg, Isla Fisher, Zac Efron, Jimmy Buffett, Martin Lawrence and Jonah Hill, THE BEACH BUM is the wildly original and subversive new comedy from writer/director Harmony Korine (Spring Breakers).
The Beach Bum will hit theaters on March 29. If you see one movie this year starring McConaughey playing a washed-up dope who lives on a beach, make it this one. Trust me.
