LONG SHOT Trailer Nominates Charlize Theron For President

And Seth Rogen is along for the ride.

Charlize Theron is running for president! I mean, I wish, but that's the setup in the first trailer for Long Shot, the new film from director Jonathan Levine. Previously titled Flarsky, the rom-com reunites Levine with his 50/50 and The Night Before star Seth Rogen, who plays a journalist assigned to cover Theron as she runs for president.

Take a look.

Looks cute, yeah? The dynamic between Rogen and Theron is described best by co-star O'Shea Jackson Jr. (who was super hilarious and charming in Ingrid Goes West, so I'm thrilled to see him in another comedy), who notes that Rogen is basically the Julia Roberts to Theron's Richard Gere. Long Shot, which premieres at SXSW in March, also stars June Diane Raphael, Bob Odenkirk, Randall Park, Alexander Skarsgard, and Andy Serkis, with a special appearance by Boyz II Men (one of whom calls Rogen a "cracker" after he takes a particularly hilarious spill down some stairs).

Here's the ol' official synopsis:

He’s a hard-hitting political writer with a talent for trouble. She’s the country’s top diplomat with a talent for…well, everything. When Fred Flarsky reunites with his first crush who also happens to be the current US Secretary of State, Charlotte Field, he charms her with his self-deprecating humor and his memories of her youthful idealism. As she prepares to make a surprise run for the Oval Office, Charlotte hires Fred to punch up her campaign speeches and their unmistakable chemistry leads to a round-the-world affair. But Fred’s carefree indiscretions, past and present, could bring down her campaign before it even begins. The film redefines “international relations” with a profane, funny and unexpected love.

Long Shot hits theaters on May 3.
