Will Smith Won’t Be Returning For James Gunn’s THE SUICIDE SQUAD

Looks like Deadshot was a one-shot.

Well, it looks like Will Smith is out of the DCEU. Variety reports that Smith will not be returning to the role of Deadshot in James Gunn's sequel/reboot/relaunch thing, The Suicide Squad. Looks like this isn't really a case of not wanting Smith back to play the role or Smith not wanting to put the mask back on, but instead it comes down to the mundanity of scheduling conflicts.

Of course, it's never really been confirmed that Smith (or any other cast member from 2016's Suicide Squad) planned to return, so it's entirely possible Smith was never in the cards, anyway. Even so, it's a little bit of a bummer to see everyone's third favorite character from the extremely loveable cast of the first film shelved so definitively. Jai bless.

And that's about all there is to see here! What do you think about all this? Think there's going to be any pretense of continuity to 2016's Suicide Squad, or does this news signal a complete do-over? Speculate recklessly down in the comments, nerds.
