This Red Band Trailer For BOOKSMART Might Almost Make You Miss High School

Almost.

Last night, Olivia Wilde's Booksmart premiered at the SXSW Film Festival, and by all accounts it's a helluva film: heartfelt and hilarious, sharply-written and confidently directed. Now we've got the first red-band trailer for Wilde's film, and it appears the buzz did not lie - this one looks like a lot of fun.

See what you think:

Kind of wild to be writing this one up immediately after writing up the trailer for Good Boys, another R-rated comedy featuring Will Forte in a supporting role, kids behaving badly, and a DJ Shadow/Run The Jewels needle drop in its trailer. Beyond the obvious differences, Wilde's film looks to be chasing a slightly more mature crowd, but it looks no less funny in the process. Guess we have another solid coming of age comedy to look forward to this year.

Here's a synopsis:

"Told from a wildly original, fresh and modern perspective, Booksmart is an unfiltered comedy about high school best friends and the bonds we create that last a lifetime. Capturing the spirit of our times, the film is a coming of age story for a new generation."

Booksmart hits theaters on May 24th, and we're very curious to find out if this one's as much of a homerun as we've heard it is. Stay tuned for more as we get closer to the film's release.
