Margot Robbie Gets Her Own ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD Poster
Note: We know what you're thinking - "Why is the image at the top of this post reversed?" It's because our logo appears in the top-left corner of every header image, and we didn't want it slapped over Margot Robbie's face while revealing this, her very own Once Upon a Time in Hollywood poster. Now you know.
Yesterday, Sony unloaded the very first poster for Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon a Time in Hollywood. Featuring Brad Pitt and Leonardo DiCaprio, the poster set off no small amount of debate on social media: why were Pitt and DiCaprio relegated to the poster's edges? Why were the photos themselves clearly composited? Where was Margot Robbie?
Today's poster fixes two of those issues, but maintains the off-centered imagery established in yesterday's reveal.
Here, of course, is Margot Robbie as Sharon Tate, the actress destined to meet a violent end at the hands of Charles Manson's cult. We know that Robbie's Tate will live next door to DiCaprio and Pitt's characters in Tarantino's latest, but at this time we're not sure where things will go from there. Unlike virtually every other QT joint since Jackie Brown, the details (read: screenplay) for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood have been kept under heavy lock and key.
By the way, if you're wondering about the placement on these character posters, my operating theory is that they're meant to illustrate these characters as being on the periphery of Hollywood itself, out near the edge of the frame rather than centered within it. Given what we do know about the film's plot, that seems appropriate!
Oh, and if you're wondering about Pendulum, the film playing at the theater in the background of Robbie's poster, here's a plot synopsis for you to try and divine clues from:
"Capt. Frank Matthews (George Peppard) made his career catching rapist and murderer Paul Sanderson (Robert F. Lyons). But his victory lap is cut short when Sanderson's death sentence is overturned by the Supreme Court because of police misconduct. Matthews' reputation disintegrates entirely when his wife, Adele (Jean Seberg), and her lover are found murdered in bed. Now the prime suspect, Matthews resorts to hiring Sanderson's lawyer in an effort to escape the hangman's rope."
All signs currently point to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood's first trailer arriving tomorrow. Stay tuned.
