The First JOKER Teaser Demands You Put On A Happy Face

Just gonna get right outta this one's way. You know what we're here for.

This is the first trailer for Todd Phillips' Joker, which - if this footage is anything to go on - will find Phillips applying the King of Comedy formula to the Clown Prince of Crime. A quick glance at social media indicates that reactions to this one are gonna be all over the map, but honestly? I'm into everything going on here. Yes, a Joker: Origins movie is a questionable idea, and yes, Phillips still feels like a bizarre fit for this particular project, but Joaquin Phoenix appears to be firing on all cylinders (note: Joaquin Phoenix is never not firing on all cylinders), I'm curious to know how much Batman lore is actually gonna make its way into the film, and ... well, I mean, let's be real: I simply admire the weirdness of the whole thing. 

Joker hits theaters on October 4th. Let's spend all our time between now and then arguing about it in the comments below.
