The New LION KING Trailer Finally Gives Us Talking Animals

What say you, BMD readership?

Well, they've been teasing it for weeks now, and today's the day: we've finally got a new trailer for Jon Favreau's The Lion King, and - per everyone's request - they made sure this one includes some talking animals. How do they look in action? How's the film look, on the whole? Find out via the trailer below.

My reaction to this trailer is as follows: I see a lot of people giving this movie what-for in comments sections and on social media, but to my eyes it looks ... like Favreau's The Jungle Book, a movie I thought most of us enjoyed. There's been some sturm und drang over Disney's ongoing habit of calling films like this "live-action remakes", and I'll agree that terminology could probably use an update. But I honestly don't see anything worth getting mad about here. In fact, I think the animation looks great, the cast seems solid, and after The Jungle Book I certainly trust Favreau to know what he's doing. Your mileage may vary, but that's where I'm at with this one.

Also, listen closely at the very end of that trailer and you can hear Seth Rogen doing the Seth Rogen laugh while singing "The Lion Sleeps Tonight".

Nothing further to report at this time, so I'm gonna turn the mic over to y'all: where do you stand on the Lion King remake? Any theories as to why more people seem up in arms over this one than they were The Jungle Book? Gonna check this one out when it hits theaters on July 19th, or you gonna skip it entirely? Sound off in the comments below, and stay tuned for further Lion King updates as they become available.
