Lord & Miller Just Signed A Massive Marvel TV Deal

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Phil Lord and Chris Miller - last seen leaving their unmistakable touch on last year's Oscar-winning Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse - have just signed a gigantic nine-figure, five-year deal with Sony Pictures TV to produce ... well, a whole bunch of stuff, actually. 

Says THR:

"Under the pact, Lord and Miller will create and develop their own comedy and drama projects for broadcast, cable and streaming as well as supervise other writers' projects. Additionally, the pair will also be involved in developing a suite of television series based on Sony's universe of Marvel characters. Those include Spider-Man (and all his villains, like Green Goblin); Venom (a sequel with Tom Hardy is in the works); Morbius (which has a live-action feature in the works starring Jared Leto); Black Cat and Silver Sable (both in development on the feature side)."

THR goes on to say that Lord and Miller's deal "possibly" includes some of the characters from Spider-Verse, an intriguing notion that we're very eager to hear more on. We'd watch shows based on just about any character that appeared in that movie, especially if we're talking about a Doc Ock series starring Kathryn Hahn. Give us that immediately.

The one thing THR doesn't mention is where these shows might be headed. There's no mention of any particular network or streaming platform, so for the time being it's anyone's guess as to where we'll see this stuff. That said, THR does mention that Lord and Miller's deal comes at the end of a furious bidding war between various studios, all of whom were gunning for the duo's time and creative energy. In other words: we don't imagine any Lord/Miller Marvel shows are going to have a hard time finding a home. 

Speaking of, here's what Lord and Miller have to say about the deal:

"We are so grateful to everyone at Sony Pictures Television for choosing to partner with us and expand our enduring relationship with the studio. Together we aim to make groundbreaking work of the highest quality and integrity, and to place that work in convenient proximity to your eyeballs and earholes, wherever you may be."
