Let’s Take A Look Inside Mondo’s 80 YEARS OF BATMAN Showcase

In which the Mondo Gallery rings in the Dark Knight's 80th birthday in style.

Disclosure: Mondo and BMD are both owned by the Alamo Drafthouse.

Last night, our friends over at the Mondo Gallery opened the doors on their latest showcase: 80 Years of Batman, a celebration of the Dark Knight's eight decades' worth of experience in the crime-fighting arena. In an interesting twist, the entire showcase was comprised entirely of various Batman covers, each one blown up to a stunning 24x36" or 18x24" size, with some choices more obvious than others.

Lemme tell ya: seeing these iconic covers at those sizes was something else.

The Mondo Gallery's 80 Years of Batman showcase will be open from May 17th through the 25th (be sure to check the Gallery's hours before stopping by), with everything that doesn't sell during that period being made available for purchase online at a yet-to-be-determined date.

Which ones are catching your eye? If I had to pick a favorite, I think I've gotta go with Dave McKean's Arkham Asylum. That's an image I've seen a bazillion times over the years, but obviously never at that size (and in such clarity; the wizardy these guys are able to pull off during the printing process is really not to be undervalued), and it was truly arresting from across a room. Way into it.

Stay tuned for more from Mondo (and, apparently, from the world of Batman) in the near future.
