See Kevin Costner Voice This Dog In The ART OF RACING IN THE RAIN Trailer

"Faster, Denny, faster."

If you're anything like me, you spend every waking minute of your life wondering what Kevin Costner might be up to. Most recently, the answer to that question was "Netflix's The Highwaymen", a not entirely well-received retelling of the Bonnie and Clyde story starring Costner and Woody Harrelson as the grizzled old cops tasked with bringing said famous outlaws to justice.

But that was then, and this is now, and now Kevin Costner is voicing the dog in The Art of Racing in The Rain.

Directed by Simon Curtis, The Art of Racing in The Rain appears to be yet another in a long line of feel good movies which weaponize humanity's natural love for dogs against itself. A Dog's Purpose. A Dog's Journey. CujoA Dog's Way Home. These movies are as emotionally manipulative as they are successful at turning a profit (are you ready for this? A Dog's Purpose raked in over $200M worldwide on a $22M budget), and until your grandparents stop watching them, Hollywood's gonna keep churning 'em out. We've been indifferent to this genre trend for some time, but now that they've roped Kevin Costner into it, we felt the need to say something.

Here's an official synopsis:

"A family dog named Enzo evaluates his life through the lessons he has learned from his human owner, a race car driver named Denny Swift."

A race car driver named Denny Swift. Will wonders never cease.

The Art of Racing in The Rain hits theaters on August 9th.
