Linda Hamilton Takes Center Stage On The First TERMINATOR: DARK FATE Poster

As well she should.

Back in April, during Paramount's big CinemaCon presentation in Las Vegas, I was fortunate enough to see maybe 10 minutes of Tim Miller's Terminator: Dark Fate, a film that - up until that point - I had not been shy about expressing my disinterest in. Another Terminator, really? After the absolute debacle that was Terminator: Genisys? I didn't care what James Cameron said: this was not a film I felt I needed.

And then a funny thing happened: I enjoyed the Terminator: Dark Fate footage we were shown. Like, quite a bit! Some of that had to do with the bone-crunching action we saw, which was largely straightforward, no frills and well-shot; some of it had to do with the creepy new Terminator design. A lot of it, however, had to do with Linda Hamilton.

After an extended sequence wherein a fully nude Mackenzie Davis whooped the asses off two meddling cops, Paramount's Terminator: Dark Fate presentation featured a sequence wherein Linda Hamilton, reprising her iconic role of Sarah Connor, stepped out of a truck and started firing extremely large guns at the new Terminator, and lemme tell ya: seeing Hamilton back in action (and so clearly relishing the work) was undeniably awesome. In that moment, I went from fully not giving a shit about the new Terminator to being cautiously optimistic. Have I fallen for this trick before? Oh, most certainly. Has the Terminator franchise been running on fumes (if we could even call them that) since Terminator 2: Judgment Day? Absolutely. And yet...

Tomorrow, we'll get the first trailer for Terminator: Dark Fate. You can make up your own minds then. In the meantime, please enjoy the first Terminator: Dark Fate poster (embedded above, you should've noticed it by now), and do hit the comments below to let us know where you stand on yet another Terminator movie. Willing to give them one last at-bat? Are you well and truly over this franchise? Let us know, and stay tuned.

Terminator: Dark Fate hits theaters on November 1st.
