Back in April, at CinemaCon, during the memorably weird Disney/20th Century hybrid presentation, we were shown the very first footage from James Mangold's Ford v. Ferrari. It was basically an extended trailer - very, very similar to what you're about to watch below - and by the time it was done screening, I had gone from "casually interested" to "chomping at the bit to see this movie immediately."
See if the same doesn't happen for you.
This looks great, right? Exciting and beautifully-shot racecar stuff, Matt Damon and Christian Bale palling around (in a diner! And Bale's not being all gloomy!), Jon Bernthal full-on smoldering in an office setting (that's where Jon Bernthal is most dangerous! Lots of paper in there!), the lasting impression that this movie's gonna have a cheeky sense of humor. We were wondering how Mangold might follow up Logan, and this looks like one helluva way to do it.
Here's an official plot synopsis:
"Academy Award-winners Matt Damon and Christian Bale star in FORD v FERRARI, based on the remarkable true story of the visionary American car designer Carroll Shelby (Damon) and the fearless British-born driver Ken Miles (Bale), who together battled corporate interference, the laws of physics, and their own personal demons to build a revolutionary race car for Ford Motor Company and take on the dominating race cars of Enzo Ferrari at the 24 Hours of Le Mans in France in 1966."
Aaaand here's the film's first poster, which actually snuck its way online a few days ago:
We're super excited about this one, how 'bout y'all? Sound off below, and do stay tuned for much more on Ford v. Ferrari between now and its November 15th arrival in theaters.
