New Trailer Invites You To Take A Trip To HONEYLAND

I don't know if you kids have heard yet, but documentaries, especially documentaries you can see in the theater, are pretty cool. You get to learn stuff. You get to see real people live their real lives. You get to feel like you're part of something, experiencing a reality just as real as your own that you might not ever have otherwise known about.

You know what's also cool?

Bees.

Now the great tastes of documentaries and bees are together at last in the trailer for Honeyland, and it actually looks like a pretty intriguing little slice of life.

Okay, so in all seriousness, this looks like it's right up my alley as the sort of humanist cultural exposure to get me thinking outside the limited confines of my own life. If the gorgeous cinematography of the trailer is a bit too vague for you, though, the official synopsis might be enough to convince you:

Hatidze lives with her ailing mother in the mountains of Macedonia, making a living cultivating honey using ancient beekeeping traditions. When an unruly family moves in next door, what at first seems like a balm for her solitude becomes a source of tension as they, too, want to practice beekeeping, while disregarding her advice. The most awarded film out of this year's Sundance Film Festival, winning the World Cinema Grand Jury Prize, a Special Jury Award for Cinematography, and another Special Jury Award for Originality. HONEYLAND is an epic, visually stunning portrait of the delicate balance between nature and humanity that has something sweet for everyone.
