Happy Holidays, Indeed: Blumhouse Is Remaking BLACK CHRISTMAS

We've all got something to unwrap on December 13th.

Here's an extremely unexpected piece of news: this December, Blumhouse will release a brand-new remake of 1974's Black Christmas, with Sophia Takal in the director's chair and a script co-written by Takal and April Wolfe. According to the folks over at Vulture, the cast includes "Imogen Poots, Aleyse Shannon, Brittany O’Grady, and Caleb Eberhardt". This, for the record, will be the first female-directed horror film Blumhouse puts into theaters (they've also got a reboot of The Craft in the works directed by Zoe Lister-Jones, but that won't be along for a minute).

For those unfamiliar with Bob Clark's original (or the 2006 remake), Black Christmas tells a fairly straightforward slasher movie story: it's Christmas Eve, and a sorority house comes under attack by an unknown killer. One by one the sorority girls are picked off, until...well, we don't wanna spoil the ending, but we will say that the kills are top-notch, and it's all a cut above a lot of the other slasher movies from the same era.
