READY OR NOT Trailer Plays A Deadly Game Of Hide And Seek

Here's a fun little surprise: The first trailer for Ready or Not, a movie I knew nothing about until Fox Searchlight released this trailer. But based on this footage, it's become an instant must-see. Ready or Not stars Samara Weaving (Mayhem) as a young woman who marries into a family with a very peculiar wedding night tradition involving a deranged game of hide and seek. This trailer gives off some delightfully dark You're Next vibes: 

Weaving, who also stars in the upcoming Bill & Ted Face the Music, is joined by a very rad ensemble that includes Adam Brody, Andie MacDowell, Mark O'Brien (Halt and Catch Fire fans, what's up), Kristian Bruun (Orphan Black), and Henry Czerny. The film is directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, two-thirds of Radio Silence – the collective behind the "10/31/98" segment in V/H/S. The other third, Chad Villella, serves as producer. Here's the official synopsis for Ready or Not: 

READY OR NOT follows a young bride (Samara Weaving) as she joins her new husband’s (Mark O’Brien) rich, eccentric family (Adam Brody, Henry Czerny, Andie MacDowell) in a time-honored tradition that turns into a lethal game with everyone fighting for their survival.

Ready or Not hits theaters on August 23.
